1976 Greco EG-900CR

As far as I know, Greco began to engrave serial number on the head stock of Les Paul models in about the middle of 1976.

This guitar has no serial number, but we can know the date of completion. Please take a look on the reverse side of pickups, you can see 5 digits of number stamped. The lower 3 or 4 digits of the number indicate the date of pickup installation, for example "1229" means "29/December". In this case, "330" means "30/March". The next upper digit means the year, "5" means 1975, in case of "6" means 1976, understand?. I have no information that the next upper digit means. In conclusion, this guitar was completed on 3/March/1976.

According to the catalogue, in no serial number age, U3000 pickups seemed to be mounted on EG-900. And after that, U4000 pickups were mounted synchronously with serialization. After all DiMarzio PAF pickups were mounted in 1977 when the tuners were changed to Greco original MH802 from Glover's.

I love U-3000 pickup sound, the stoutness is a little fainter than Gibson '57 Classic, but dryness and crispness is a little stronger.

I measured the electric resistance of Greco pickups excluding this one.

U1000 7.55〜7.71kΩ(2 pcs ave.7.63 kilo ohm)
U2000 7.65〜7.91kΩ(3 pcs ave.7.76 kilo ohm)
U3000 7.66〜8.09kΩ(engraved type 12 pcs ave.7.82 kilo ohm)
U4000 7.84〜8.13kΩ(engraved type 5 pcs ave.7.98 kilo ohm)

Output of these pickups tend to increase according as the pickup grade.

These pickups indicate 7.66 kilo ohm on the neck side, 7,44 kilo ohm on the bridge side, seem to a little low output compared with engraved U3000s.

Hard maple 2 pcs top, 2 ply mahogany back, laminated maple neck, round fingerboard with rosewood, real shell inlay. The sound is definitely nice, extraordinary. The weight is 4.2kg.
